MATH CLASSES

Curriculum: Teaching Textbooks Math 5

This course utilizes the online program, Teaching Textbooks Math 5, covering operations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, basic geometry, measurement units, and percentages. Students will require access to a computer or tablet for daily assignments. A 12-month course subscription is necessary, with a recommended start date of August 1st. Weekly Classroom Activities: Each week, approximately four lessons will be introduced and taught. Students will engage in collaborative problem-solving, creating a reference binder of worked examples. Interactive notebooks will also be used to reinforce learning. Educational math games will supplement the Teaching Textbooks curriculum, and fact fluency will be developed through review of addition/subtraction and a focus on multiplication/division practice.

 Homework: Students are expected to dedicate approximately 2-3 hours per week to completing assigned lessons at home. The program provides step-by-step solutions and automated grading for all homework problems. Students will submit a weekly homework sheet and work out problems on the provided Quiz Answer Sheet. Consistent practice of fact fluency is also required, with submission of an initialed completion log.

 Tuition and Payment Information: A supply list will be available in July. There will be a $30.00 supply fee, which will cover all paperwork passed out during class, an interactive notebook, and any class activities. Classes will be $50.00 per month for ten months.

 To register, please fill out the Training Center registration form and mail it along with your $80.00 ($50 for July + supply fee) payment dated July 1 (first tuition payment) and Aug. 1 payment. Once these items have been received, this will hold your child’s spot in the class.

The ONLY payment options for this class:

1. Write 10 post-dated checks to be cashed at the first of the month (July 1 – April 1).
2. Pay for the entire year.
3. Pay with 2 post-dated checks for each semester (1^st semester dated July 1 and 2^nd semester dated Dec. 1).

 All post-dated checks must be received before the 1^st day of class (preferably the day of orientation). No refunds will be given for canceling the class after July 1st.

Prerequisite: 

Must have successfully passed the Math 6 Class; Mastery of Multiplication Facts or pass the Math 7 Placement Test.

Students new to The Training Center will be required to complete a placement test to determine the class placement that is best for the student to progress successfully in math. Contact me at heidiwebb@ttcclasses.com to request the Math 7 Placement Test.

Please do not help students with the placement test.

 Class Description:

This course is foundational to higher math classes. We will cover multiplication/division of whole numbers, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions, decimals, and percents, using a calculator, basic geometry, probability, and setting up word problems. Concepts for the week will be studied in class along with the completion of each lesson’s practice problems. Students will then be ready to work on assigned lessons and chapter quizzes/tests at home. Parents should monitor homework each day making sure lessons are completed. Weekly in-class quizzes will be given to monitor student progress. There is an end-of-the-year final exam taken in class to determine whether the student is ready to move to the next level math class (Pre-Algebra).

 Class Time:

Math 7 is 1 hour and 15 minutes per week. The expected time outside of class each week needed for preparation and daily homework assignments is about 3-4 hours. There will be lessons due on the first day of class.

• Pencil Pouch for binder
• Highlighter of any color
• 3 Binder Divider Tabs with Labels, Labeled: Help Sheets, Homework, Tests/Quizzes

 

Tuition:
Tuition is $550 for the year, split into 10 payments of $55 due on the first of each month (July 1, 2025 – April 1, 2026) and a one-time $25 supply/copy fee due along with the July payment. So, an $80 first-time payment is just for July alone. The July payment holds your child’s spot in my class. The supply fee covers materials that I need to purchase throughout the school year for the class, such as printer ink and printer paper for in-class quizzes, tests, and help sheets I will need to print for students throughout the school year.

To register for this class, please print, fill out, and mail off the class registration form along with payment plus supply/copy fee to my home address (listed below).

Your student is not fully registered until one of the following payment methods is confirmed.
1. Write 10 post-dated checks to be cashed on the first of each month (July 1, 2025 – April 1, 2026)
2. Set up a bank draft with your bank to arrive at my address by the 1st of the month.

3. Pay electronically on the 1st of the month through Zelle using my phone number or email address (listed below). Zelle payments can now be set up as automatic payments.
   4. Pay by semester (1st semester – $275+$25 supply fee = $300 dated July 1, 2025, and 2nd semester – $275 dated December 1, 2025).
4. Write a check to pay $550 for the full year, along with the $25 supply/copy fee.

Must have successfully completed the Math 7 class or taken and passed the Pre-Algebra Placement Test.

Algebra 1

Required time outside of class is 4 – 5 hours.

Teaching Textbooks is a unique math program written specifically for homeschoolers in an easy-to-digest conversational tone. This course covers simple equations, negative numbers, fractions, powers, roots, second degree equations, graphing, solving systems of equations, inequalities, and irrational numbers.

We will be using the Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1 – 4.0 which is an online program. The computer program will grade the student’s homework and tests. In-class quizzes and mid-term/final will be used to help assess the student’s learning and will be graded by the teacher.

Note **There will be lessons assigned and due on the first day of class. 

You will need to purchase the following:

Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1 – 4.0

When you purchase, put the start date as Aug. 1, 2025.  All textbook materials that your student needs for the course will be included in this purchase. You will have access to a digital book and instructional videos but will not receive a hard copy of the book or CDs. You will need to have a computer, laptop or tablet for the student to complete their assignments.  If you have *multiple students, you will need to purchase this for each student.

How does this course work? First, students will follow the class assignments throughout the year. Concepts for the week will be reviewed in class along with practice problems for the week. Students will then be ready to work assigned lessons and chapter tests at home. Homework is graded by the computer program. Secondly, in-class quizzes will be given to monitor students’ progress. Grades will be kept on Google Classroom  for easy access. Finally, a one-time $20 copy/supply fee is due upon registration. This fee will cover the printing of review handouts and quizzes given to students and parents throughout the year.

Prerequisite: Pre-Algebra.  (Current TTC math students must have demonstrated proficiency on the final test, otherwise participation in placement testing will be required. New TTC math students must take a placement test. )  This will determine which class is needed for the student to progress successfully in math. Students should have a firm handle on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts including with negative numbers. They should be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions with ease before taking Algebra I.

Other supplies:

Calculator – A TI-30XS calculator (at minimum). Those that plan to take Algebra II and Geometry should consider buying a TI-83 Plus or TI-84 calculator for all 3 classes.

 Spiral notebooks for taking notes and practice problems – Buy at least 2 and place one in the binder.

 Binder (1 1/2 – 2 in) with dividers for handouts, quizzes and extra paper.

Note: There will be homework to complete before the first class, which is material covered in Pre-Alg. Plan to allow time during August for this to be completed. This will allow the class to have more time on the new material covered in the second half of the year.  If a student struggles with this, consider pre-algebra again.

Class is offered :

Mondays from 8:45-10:15 a.m. at Gracepoint Church

Tuition is $600 for the year.  A copy fee of $20 is due in July. As we often turn students away, once you have reserved your space, there will be no refunds given after July 1.

We will be using the Teaching Textbooks Algebra 2 – 4.0 which is an online program. The computer program will grade the student’s homework and tests. In-class quizzes and mid-term/final will be used to help assess the student’s learning and will be graded by the teacher.

Note **There will be lessons assigned and due on the first day of class.

 Geometry – Teaching Textbooks

 Prerequisite: Algebra 1

This course covers inductive/deductive reasoning, lines, angles, triangles, inequalities, quadrilaterals, polygons, trigonometry, circles, and 3D shapes. Concepts for the week will be studied in class along with completion of the lesson practice problems. Students will then be ready to work assigned lessons and chapter tests at home. Expected time outside of class each week: 4 – 5 hours.

Tuition is $60 per month (July through April) with a one-time $35 supply/printing fee due in July. The first payment must include the supply fee.

Payment options: Your student is not registered until one of the following three payment methods is confirmed:

1. Two checks. One is dated July 1, 2025, for $335 (includes a one-time supply fee), and the other is dated December 1, 2025, for $300.
2. Ten post-dated checks, July 1, 2025 – April 1, 2026, to be deposited on the 1st of each month. The July check should include the supply fee.
